The 25th Anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 was December 21, 2013. To mark this milestone, the Remembrance Scholars began what has become one of the most moving displays commemorating the lives of those lost – The Empty Chairs. Thirty-five chairs, each marked with the seat number of one of the Syracuse study abroad student victims of the bombing, are arranged on the Quad in the places they occupied on the Clipper Maid of the Seas. Students can use markers to add notes and comments listing their positive acts of kindness, demonstrating how they Act Forward in memory and honor of those lost.
